Electric Assist Mountain Bikes are taking the bike market by storm but they’re also creating turmoil in the marketplace. E-Bikes assist in pedaling but reduce the workout in the ride. This may be a problem if we rely on mountain biking as our main exercise. E-Bikes have a small motor in the rear hub and a battery mounted on the frame; those features add weight and a bigger price tag to already expensive bikes. When we buy a new bike we should make sure to try both a regular bike and an E-Bike. That way, we can choose the bike that suits our needs best.

In the wake of hurricane Matthew a conversation is arising about the growing severity of modern hurricanes. Many people believe the rise is the result of global warming, and that warming is caused by man’s wasteful lifestyle. Scientists link this increase in higher surface temperatures to parts of the Atlantic that hurricanes travel. They think rising ocean temperatures result from manmade greenhouse gasses, and particulate pollution. Researchers believe the ocean has been warming since the 1970’s, it’s melting ice caps, and they expect the numbers of storms to increase over the next half century. According to the National Climate Assessment these claims have been proven wrong many times, but most other climate authorities insist that changing weather patterns result, for the most part, from human induced-increases in trapped greenhouse gasses, so they warn that hurricanes will continue to rise in severity.
